Germany I’m coming
Setting off~
The plane took off on time. The airhostess was so nice when she know that I was the Miss Shanghai Oktoberfest of 2008, and she specially arranged a window seat for me. It seems that our Oktoberfest is quite well-known on the market.
Fifteen-hour flight seems not so long as imagined. I didn't know if it was because I was too excited. When I arrived at Munich airport, it was still at daybreak, but not cloudy and cold as imagined. Even Rebecca who came to pick me up said it was seldom like this. Maybe I brought Shanghai’s summer to here? |

My first impression on Freising
I began my first-day venture with bell from the church in the early morning.
As soon as I stepped out of the hotel, I felt fresh air around me, which reminded me of the villages in China. I walked on the road leading to the downtown, and got a further touch of the town through old streets paved with flagstones; most of the buildings are less than four floors; full-bloom flowers and kinds of plants every where; meticulously decorated window. All these told me that people here loved and enjoyed their life very much. I did hope that life in Shanghai could be a bit leisurely and carefree like here. |

Dining and climbing with GM and his children
Luckily, our GM Mr. Schaller was back to his hometown on holiday during the period. He invited me to enjoy the weekend with his family. We drove to a mountain area close to Munich, where Germen often went there on weekends. On the highway, we met many people with touring cars or plus a bicycle. I was told summer was usually very short here, and extremely cold in winter. That’s why people cherish every chance to enjoy the nature and sunshine. Mr. Schaller told me that in Germany all shops were closed on Sunday. Oh! I couldn’t imagine if it happened in Shanghai!
We had lunch in an open-air restaurant. This was my first time to taste traditional Bavarian food, and everything was new to me. |
